How to Measure Your Wrist for a Bracelet

The key to a comfortable bracelet is starting with an accurate wrist measurement.

Fit Allowances Explained

Your wrist measurement is just the baseline. Depending on how you want the bracelet to feel, you must add "ease" or allowance to that number:

⚠️ Bangle Exception: Because closed bangles must pass over your hand (not just wrap around your wrist), you must measure around the widest part of your hand/knuckles with your thumb tucked in, not your wrist.

Frequently Asked Questions

The industry standard women's bracelet size is between 7 inches and 7.5 inches (18cm to 19cm), with 7 inches being the most common size purchased.

The industry standard men's bracelet size is between 8 inches and 8.5 inches (20cm to 21.5cm).

It depends on the style! A chain or beaded bracelet should have a 'comfort fit', allowing 1 or 2 fingers to slip between the bracelet and your wrist. Cuff bracelets require a snugger fit so they don't spin around.

Unlike chains, a closed bangle must pass over your knuckles. Tuck your thumb into your palm (as if putting on a bangle) and measure around the widest part of your knuckles. This is the inner circumference you need for a bangle.

If you're unsure, buy the average standard size: 7 inches for women and 8 inches for men. Alternatively, opt for a bracelet with an adjustable chain or a cuff style, which can be gently squeezed to fit.
